Pour la première fois, le Fils de Dieu fut frappé par un être humain. Debout devant le souverain sacrificateur, faussement accusé, un officier le frappa de la paume de sa main. Quelle tristesse dut transpercer son cœur à cet instant ! Il avait donné souffle et force à cet officier. L’existence même de cet homme était due au Seigneur béni qui se tenait devant lui. Et là, sous les regards de toutes les armées célestes, pour la première fois, le Créateur fut intentionnellement blessé par sa créature. Tandis que les armées angéliques attendaient son commandement, combien leur cœur dut souffrir en voyant… le Bien-Aimé du ciel frappé par un homme pécheur et mortel.

Por primera vez, el Hijo de Dios fue golpeado por un ser humano. De pie ante el sumo sacerdote, habiendo sido falsamente acusado, un oficial lo golpeó con la palma de su mano. ¡Qué tristeza debió atravesar Su corazón en ese momento! Él había dado aliento y fuerza a ese oficial. La propia existencia de aquel hombre se debía al bendito Señor que estaba delante de él. Y allí ocurrió, bajo la mirada de todas las huestes celestiales: por primera vez, el Creador fue herido intencionalmente por Su criatura. Mientras los ejércitos angélicos esperaban Su llamado, ¡cuánto debieron dolerles sus corazones al ver… al Amado del cielo golpeado por un hombre pecador y mortal!

“En terwijl hij dit zei, sloeg een van de wachters die daar stond Jezus in het gezicht en zei: ‘Antwoord jij de hogepriester op deze manier?’” (Johannes 18:22)
Voor de eerste keer werd de Zoon van God geslagen door een mens. Staand voor de hogepriester, valselijk beschuldigd, werd Hij door een dienaar met de handpalm geslagen. Welke droefheid moet Zijn hart op dat moment hebben doorboord? Hij had die dienaar adem en kracht gegeven. Het bestaan van die man was te danken aan de gezegende Heer die voor hem stond. Daar gebeurde het, terwijl de hemelse heerscharen toekeken: voor de eerste keer werd de Schepper opzettelijk verwond door Zijn schepsel. Terwijl de engelen wachtten op Zijn bevel, hoe moeten hun harten gebloed hebben bij het zien van… de Geliefde van de hemel geslagen door een zondig, sterfelijk mens.

“And when he had said this, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, ‘Do You answer the high priest like that?’” (John 18:22)
For the first time, the Son of God was struck by a human being. Standing before the high priest, having been falsely accused, an officer struck Him with the palm of his hand. What sorrow must have pierced His heart at that moment? He had given breath and strength to that officer. That man’s very existence was owed to the blessed Lord standing before him. There it happened, as all the hosts of heaven looked down—for the first time, the Creator was deliberately wounded by His creature. While angelic hosts awaited His command, how their hearts must have ached to see… the Beloved of heaven struck by a sinful, mortal man.
